Li- Anthawirriyarra Sea Rangers Unit
Li-Anthiwirriyarra Sea Ranger Unit operates in the southwest Gulf of Carpentaria. A community initiative, the Unit is charged with responsibility for looking after Yanyuwa country, which encompasses the Sir Edward Pellew Islands and surrounding coastline and delta areas. All li-Anthiwirriyarra activities are guided by li-Wirdiwalangu (senior Yanyuwa people) in accordance with Barni-Wardimantha Awara (Don't Spoil the Country) the Yanyuwa Sea Country Plan. We all work together to ensure that successive generations of Yanyuwa children find gainful employment looking after country properly, Yanyuwa way.
