Bardi Jawi Rangers

The Bardi Jawi Rangers are based at One Arm Point, on the Dampier Peninsula in the Kimberley Region. The aim of the Ranger Service, established in 2006, is to manage Bardi and Jawi land and sea country in such a way as to sustain traditional owners’ livelihoods and connection to country.

Managing over 250km of coastline and 340.700 ha of land, the Bardi Jawi Rangers carry out dugongs and turtle management activities, traditional ecological knowledge recording and collaborative research amongst other cultural and natural resource management activities. The Bardi Jawi People are also in the process of working towards the declaration of an IPA to be managed by the rangers.
